Industry, Trade and Labor Minister Shalom Simhon said Wednesday Israel was committed to cooperating with Turkey, and that business was as usual.

Speaking at the Calcalist Conference at the Tel Aviv David Intercontinental Hotel, Simhon said "Israel is part of the Middle East. Turkey is a major regional power, and we are committed to substantial cooperation with it." He added that he instructed ministry officials to continue business as usual with their Turkish counterparts.

Simhon said that the Industry, Trade and Labor Ministry was trying to prevent a decline in trade between Israel and Turkey. Given what he called the dramatic growth in bilateral trade in the first half of the year, "We must not let this band stop playing."
