Religious Services Minister Ya'acov Margi said Wednesday that Judaism's Reform movement was responsible for hundreds of years of assimilation.

Speaking to Army Radio, Margi said "The Reforms think they are bringing a new spirit to Judaism, but in practice it is bad spirit."

The comments came in response to a government decision to pay salaries to non-Orthodox community rabbis.
