NGO asks bar association to kick Olmert out of lawyer club

The NGO OMETZ on Tuesday announced that it had previously formally requested Jerusalem Bar Association Chairman Asher Axelrod to expel former prime minister Ehud Olmert as a lawyer and member of the bar.

Olmert was convicted of bribery in the Holyland trial in March, a conviction that can carry the consequence of expelling a lawyer, like Olmert, from the bar, though the conviction is on appeal.

OMETZ's letter also mentioned Olmert's prior July 2012 more minor conviction for breach of trust in the separate Investment Affair before the Jerusalem District Court.
