The nationwide strike, which local authorities planned in reaction to a rise in water prices, was canceled early Sunday morning.

A staff led by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu negotiated an agreement with the heads of local authorities, in which NIS 2.75 million will be granted to the municipalities in 2011, as well as NIS 2.8 million in 2012.

In addition, a committee will provide recommendations within 45 days on how to coordinate between water companies and local authorities.
