Netanyahu: Palestinian statehood bid will fail

Palestinians efforts to achieve statehood at the United Nations will fail as the US intends to veto the bid in the Security Council, Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu said at a cabinet meeting on Sunday. 

Netanyahu played down the importance of the General Assembly, saying "it is possible to pass every resolution there."

"Israel wants peace, but the Palestinians are doing everything to torpedo direct negotiations," he said.
