The claims made by state's witness in his testimony against former prime minister Ehud Olmert is "a collection of tales from One Thousand and One Nights, (taken) from the feverish mind of the lying" state witness, a spokesman for Olmert said Sunday.

The state's main witness in the Holyland trial, "S.D.", whose identity is protected by a gag order, began testifying Sunday morning in Tel Aviv District Court.

"Instead of putting the man behind bars," Olmert's media advisor Amir Dan continued, the prosecution "bought his testimony for millions and continues, even today when he is testifying, to hide from the public his identity and details of the many things promised him."
