BERLIN - Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu referred to as “an absolute scandal” a poem sharply criticizing Israel by Nobel literature laureate Günter Grass, in an interview slated to be published in German paper Die Welt am Sonntag on Sunday. Netanyahu ratcheted up his criticism of Grass in the interview with the German paper, as well as defending Interior Minister Eli Yishai's decision to ban Grass from entering Israel.

Netanyahu termed the poem “shameful” and a “collapse of moral judgment.”
The online website Die Welt published excerpts on Saturday of the interview with Netanyahu, the full version of which was scheduled to appear in the Sunday paper.
