A Palestinian military tribunal sentenced a member of the Palestinian Authority security services to death for sharing information with Israel, it was reported Wednesday. The head of the court, Ahmed Abu Dayyeh, said the information the man provided to Israel led to the arrest of several Palestinians. Abu Dayyeh said Wednesday that the 41-year-old officer was recruited as an informer in 1992 and is to be executed by firing squad. The sentence still awaits approval by Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, who routinely declines to do so. The court has refused to release the officer's name. The case came at a time of increasing coordination between Israel and PA security forces. Hamas has accused Abbas of collaborating with Israel.
