President Shimon Peres on Monday declined to discuss reported progress on a deal to free captured IDF soldier Gilad Schalit. "No-one, including me, should be allowed to interfere in the ministerial committee's deliberations on the possible prisoner exchange for Gilad," Peres told reporters. "And there should be no leaks from the debate," he added. Peres, who has been in frequent contact with the Schalit family, said that he would not discuss the issue with the media, beyond stressing the importance of leaving the ultimate decision to the government.
