President Shimon Peres toured southern communities affected by the recent spike in rocket attacks from Gaza, visiting the bus driver who's school bus was bombed, and children injured by rockets and mortars fired into Israeli territory.

The president also praised the Iron Dome anti-rocket defense systems, voicing pride that Israel has found a solution to rocket fire.

Israel Radio reported that Peres canceled his visit to Kibbutz Nahal Oz over security issues.
