MANILA, Philippines  — Philippine police said Friday they have seized $16 million worth of illegal drugs and arrested six suspected Chinese drug traffickers and a Filipino accomplice.

Metro Manila police Chief Nicanor Bartolome said a three-month operation targeting the drug syndicate resulted in a string of arrests beginning with two Chinese nationals who sold crystal methamphetamine to an undercover officer.

He said police later arrested four more Chinese and a Filipino and seized $5 million worth of drugs. Two of the suspects led police to a clandestine laboratory on Friday where officers found an additional $11 million of drugs.
