Police break in, disarm man barricaded in J'lem home

Tragedy was averted on Sunday after police broke into an apartment and disarmed a man who barricaded himself in and threatened to blow up the building on Stern Street in the Kiryat Yovel neighborhood.

Police and firefighters who arrived on the scene immediately disconnected the building's gas and started negotiating with the man.

Emergency personnel evacuated residents of the building during the negotiations. After less than an hour police broke down the door and disarmed the man. There were no injuries.
