Father drowns after rescuing his children from sea in Ashdod

Maritime Police on Monday morning located the body of a father who entered the water to rescue his three children on the Lido Beach in Ashdod.

Israel Radio reported the father, a resident of Bet Shemesh in his forties, drowned late on Sunday night after visiting the beach with his wife and children.

Two of the children, aged 15 and 16, entered the water and were swept away into the deep by the strong currents. According to the report, the children did not know how to swim.

The body was found with the assistance of a police helicopter as well as Zaka divers.His body has been taken to the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Abu Kabir.
