President Shimon Peres on Sunday phoned Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas to discuss the peace process.
On Saturday, Peres described Abbas as a "true partner" for Israel following the PA president's controversial interview with Channel 2, in which Abbas ceded any claim to his birthplace of Safed, a statement widely construed as a renouncement of the Palestinian "right of return."
Peres' office refused to provide details on Sunday's call.
