Report:: Chief of Staff was not on duty during flotilla raid

IDF Chief of General Staff Lt.-Gen. Gabi Ashkenazi was not on duty in the IDF command center during the raid on the Turkish ship Mavi Marmara, according to HaAretz on Sunday morning.

Nine Turks died during the raid on the Gaza-bound ship, leading to a major rupture in relations with Turkey.   According to the paper, Ashkenazi only arrived at the command center after the operation got into trouble.
