2010 was a record-breaking year for media coverage of Tel Aviv, with over 100 Television crews and 200 print journalism writers from over 30 countries descending on the city to write about the attractions that await tourists in the city that never sleeps, a study released this week found.

The report was compiled by the The Association for Tourism Tel Aviv – Jaffa, and determined that the most significant report on Tel Aviv was one compiled by “Lonely Planet”, which called Tel Aviv one of the hottest travel destinations for 2011. The report also cited a piece in National Geographic that called Tel Aviv one of the world’s top beachfront cities. The study also cited an article written by Playboy, which sent a team to Tel Aviv to check the veracity of the rumors about the city's beautiful local women.

The association said Sunday that the worldwide media coverage played a large role in a tourism boom in Tel Aviv, that saw the number of overnight bookings in Tel Aviv climb 22 percent to 2,230,000 over the previous year.
