The US Congress has decided to cut nearly $200m in aid for the Palestinians, British paper The Independent reported on Saturday.

The decision to delay the payments runs counter to the wishes of the Obama administration and reflects Congressional anger at Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas for seeking statehood recognition at the UN and not realizing Fatah-Hamas reconciliation, the paper reported.
