Russel Crowe apologizes for anti-circumcision remarks
Actor Russel Crowe apologized Friday for aggressive anti-circumcision comments he posted on Twitter, receiving the support of Jewish film director Eli Roth, AFP reported.
Crowe orignially tweeted: "Circumcision is barbaric and stupid. Who are you to correct nature? Is it real that GOD requires a donation of foreskin? Babies are perfect."
After taking down the tweet, the Hollywood star wrote on Twitter that he was "very sorry that I have said things on here that have caused distress."
Roth, a friend of Crowe's, criticized the attacks on the actor as "tabloid journalism at its worst," saying the actor has a profound respect for all religions, AFP said.
