Washington does not agree that a settlement building freeze should be a pre-condition to the renewal of Israeli- Palestinian negotiations, United States Ambassador to Israel Dan Shapiro said Tuesday morning in an interview with Army Radio.

He said that though the US's position had always been against building in the West Bank, it does not agree with Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abbas's pre-conditions for returning to peace talks.
