Al-Jazeera reported that protesters were still seen in significant numbers into the early morning hours Saturday, although the anti-government chants had died down into the night.

The report noted that the dynamic between protesters and government security forces changed Friday when the military entered the streets in Cairo to replace the police; it said that protesters embraced the army.
