Syrian lawmker quits in protest at killings

BEIRUT - A Syrian lawmaker told al-Jazeera television on Saturday he was resigning from parliament in protest at the killing of demonstrators.

"After I have failed to protect my sons from the treacherous shots there is no point in me staying in parliament. I announce now that I am stepping down," lawmaker Naser al-Hariri said.
