IDF shoots, wounds three Gazan rioters on border with Israel

Three Palestinian rioters were shot and wounded by IDF soldiers on the border with central Gaza Friday following disturbances in the area.
The IDF confirmed that it had dealt with several rioting incidents in which suspects entered the closed perimeter near the security border fence and hurled rocks.
Soldiers fired at the legs of the main instigators and the rioters mostly dispersed, an army spokeswoman said Friday evening.
On Thursday, senior military source shed light on the Southern Command’s preparations for any future escalation, saying the IDF’s intelligence on Hamas’s military wing in Gaza has increased significantly over the past two years.
The Southern Command is carefully monitoring Hamas’s 25 regional battalions and has prepared detailed files on each one as part of preparations for ground forces that could, in the event of a future escalation, be sent in to Gaza to land “painful strikes” on Hamas, the source said.
