Three US Democratic Senators visited and toured Sderot in the western Negev Thursday, Israel Radio reported.

According to the report, Ted Kaufman of Delaware, Jeanne Shaheen of New Hampshire, and Bob Casey of Pennsylvania toured the city at the end of a three day visit in Israel in which they met with Defense Minister Ehud Barak, Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Ayalon, as well as the Palestinian President Salam Fayyad and other Palestinian officials.

"By looking at the residents of Sderot and the psychological problems of the children, you can understand the importance of US support for Israel," explained Senator Casey.

Casey also mentioned that the world media is focusing too much of its attention on the situation in Gaza instead of the thousands of rockets launched at Israel and that Washington is calling for the immediate release of IDF soldier Gilad Schalit.
