TUNIS, Tunisia  — Tunisia's official news agency said that Foreign Minister Kamel Morjane has resigned.

The announcement Thursday came ahead of an expected government shake up aimed at appeasing protesters who are demanding that the government be stripped of holdouts from the regime of deposed former President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali.

Ben Ali was forced into exile on Jan. 14, following large-scale protests.
