Turkish warplanes hit 28 PKK targets in Iraq

ISTANBUL - Turkish warplanes struck 28 Kurdish guerrilla targets in northern Iraq on Thursday in a second day of airstrikes before returning to base safely, military headquarters said in a statement on Friday.

It said Turkish artillery also hit 96 targets in the region during the operation, which was conducted against the background of a surge in Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) militant activity.
