Following the release of 21 captured peacekeepers from Syria on Saturday, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon called on all parties to respect the freedom of movement and safety of the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) personnel.

Ban welcomed the release of the peacekeepers, who had been held hostage since Wednesday by the Martyrs of Yarmouk rebel brigade. He also expressed appreciation to all those who worked to secure the release of the observers.
