Noam Schalit, father of kidnapped IDF soldier St.-Sgt. Gilad Schalit, told Israel Radio on Sunday that UN Secretary Ban Ki-moon promised to continue calling for Gilad's release and for a prisoner exchange deal between Israel and Hamas.

"Gilad is being held by Hamas with disregard for basic human rights - a situation which is intolerable and unacceptable to any person in the free world," the UN chief reportedly told Schalit.

Ben met with Schalit's parents, Noam and Aviva, following a visit to the Gaza Strip.
