UNITED NATIONS  - The UN General Assembly on Monday condemned Syria for its nine-month crackdown on pro-democracy protesters and human rights abuses linked to it, in a vote that highlighted Damascus' growing isolation at the world body.

The 193-nation body's vote came a month after the assembly's human rights committee approved the draft resolution with strong Western and Arab backing.
