US State Department reduces staff in Egypt amid violence

The US State Department on Sunday said it had authorized the voluntary departure of dependents of diplomats and non-essential workers in Egypt, Reuters reported.

The move came amid violent demonstrations in Cairo, Alexandria and other parts of Egypt against Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak's government.
