US raises passport prices

The price of acquiring an American passport will be increasing as of July 13, the US State Department announced on Sunday.

According to a press release from the American Embassy in Tel Aviv, the DS-82 passport form for adults – a form set for renewals only – which was originally was priced at $75, will now increase to $110. The fee for adult passports using the DS-11 form will rise from $100 to $135. The cost of a DS-11 minor passport, which concerns anyone under the age of 16, will change from $85 to $105.

There will also be a new fee of $82 for any supplementary passport pages.

Not only are the actual passport prices increasing, but the application fee is swelling as well. The application for adults, which was initially $20, is now $30, and for minors the price has gone from $10 to $15.
