Turkey's suspension of trade with Israel only refers to defense trade, not private trade of goods and merchandise, the Wall Street Journal reported Tuesday, quoting a spokesman for Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Erdogan had been quoted as saying earlier that Turkey was "totally suspending" defense industry and trade ties with Israel, after already having downgraded diplomatic relations with the country.
