In a meeting with a US diplomat, MK Yitzhak Herzog (Labor) called fellow Labor MK and then-party head Amir Peretz an "inexperienced and aggressive Moroccan," according to a WikiLeaks cable released on Wednesday, Israel Radio reported.
Herzog, in the January 2006 meeting, also discussed now-Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's attitudes and intentions towards the Palestinian peace process. Netanyahu, he said, "is not peace refusenik, he is a peace manipulator," according to the report.
Adding to his racially charged words about Peretz, Herzog said he was optimistic that the party's situation had improved, with a new party list that included Ashkenazi MKs, in order "to balance out Peretz's Sephardi background."
