Interior Minister Eli Yishai on Thursday touted the internal agreement reached within the Shas party bringing Arye Deri back into a leadership position.
"The second Arye Deri considered reentering politics, people started having fighting," he told Israel Radio. "But now, we've reached an agreement and there is no more fighting."
Asked by the interviewer whether or not he was scared Deri would push him out of his leadership position, Yishai said simply "no."
"I did not move over and let Deri take over the party leadership because I do what the Rabbi Ovadia Yosef wants," Yishai said. "I spoke with Deri yesterday as friends."
He added: "The agreement was inclusive, and was made with the best interest of the public in mind."
