In an effort to encourage the inclusion of the disabled into the labor force, beginning today, new minimum wage levels will take effect for people with disabilities that hurt their ability to work, the Industry, Trade and Labor Ministry said Tuesday. According to the brackets, those found to have 75 percent to 100% of the normal ability to work will receive 100% of minimum wage (NIS 19.28 per hour); those with 50% to 75% work capacity will earn three-quarters of the norm (NIS 14.46); those with 25% to 50% capacity will earn half (NIS 9.64); and those with less than 25% of the normal employability level will earn one-third of the minimum wage (NIS 6.42 per hour). The move will boost the wages of disabled workers by 10% to 15% on average, the ministry estimated.
