Sanctions on the bank accounts of Northerners punished for bouncing checks during the war will be lifted, following Finance Minister Avraham Hirchson's approval.

Sanctions on the bank accounts of Northerners punished for bouncing checks during the war will be lifted, following Finance Minister Avraham Hirchson's approval of specific regulations to ease their situation and contribute to efforts to rehabilitate the region, the Finance Ministry said Monday. The regulations - granting the exception to punitive measures on checks bounced between July 12 and August 20 - were jointly formulated by the Justice Ministry and the Finance Ministry due to the financial difficulties encountered by business owners in the North after violators' accounts were blocked by banks.
