Amiad Water Systems, an Upper Galilee-based international water-filtration firm,
this week signed an $8 million agreement to implement its technologies in a
Colombian oil field.
The company will be providing filtration systems to
the Israeli subsidiary Nirosoft, of Ron Lauder’s RWL Water Group, which won a
$100m.
contract with the firm Pacific Rubiales to build a desalination
plant at a central Colombian oil field in August.
The desalination plant
is located in the Meta region of Puerto Gaitan and will produce 500,000 barrels
of water per day. Its design and construction, as well as operation for 10
years, is being carried out by Nirosoft. Amiad will provide the water with
preliminary filtration during the desalination process, the company
said.
Amiad will employ its reverse-osmosis membranes for the filtration
and will also oversee the construction and maintenance of the
filters.
“We are very pleased to cooperate with Nirosoft,” Amiad CEO Arik
Dayan said.
“Filtration solutions for the oil market in general and for
the market in South America in particular are very important, and Amiad is proud
to continue to sell its solutions in markets all over the
world.”
Nirosoft CEO Avi Bonibay expressed satisfaction at being able to
cooperate with another Israeli firm in an effort to contribute to the local
economy.
“In choosing a supplier we must ensure that systems and
equipment meet the strict requirements and international standards and will
deliver the desired results,” he said. “From our extensive experience with the
company Amiad, we are confident that their filtering systems meet the needs and
will provide safe and consistent results throughout the duration of the
project.”
