Investing.com - The number of job openings in the U.S. rose more than expected in April, official data showed on Tuesday.
In a report, the U.S. Labor Department said that the number of job openings, excluding the farming industry, rose to 4.46 million in April from an upwardly revised 4.17 million in March.
Analysts had expected the number of job openings to fall to 4.04 million in April.
Following the release of the data, the U.S. dollar held on to gains against the euro, with EUR/USD shedding 0.34% to trade at 1.3547.
Meanwhile, U.S. stock markets were mostly lower after the open. The Dow dipped 0.2%, the S&P 500 inched down 0.2%, while the Nasdaq 100 dipped 0.1%.
