Air force strikes Gaza targets after rocket hits Beersheba

One Palestinian was reported killed and several others injured in the IAF airstrikes.

The Israel Air Force struck a number of targets throughout the Gaza Strip early Tuesday morning in response to the firing of a Grad-model Katyusha rocket into Beersheba late Monday night.
One Palestinian was reported killed and several others injured in the IAF airstrikes which included an attack against the terror cell that has been behind a series of rocket attacks in recent months against Israel.

In another bombing of a smuggling tunnel along Gaza’s border with Egypt, three people were reported injured. The Palestinian killed was identified as an armed terrorist.
Noting the sharp increase since July in rocket attacks – mostly carried out by terror groups affiliated with al-Qaida and based in the Gaza Strip – defense officials warned that the counter-terror operation launched by Egypt earlier this week in the Sinai could potentially lead to further rocket fire into Israel.
On Sunday, the Egyptian military deployed 1,000 soldiers and hundreds of armored personnel carriers in the Sinai with the aim of uprooting terrorist infrastructure and restoring order to the peninsula which was lost following the revolution in Egypt in February.
