The girlfriend of an IDF soldier got the surprise of her life when her boyfriend proposed to her at a Friends of the IDF (FIDF) Greater Miami Chapter Solidarity Gala last week.
Twenty-five-year-old Cpt. Ziv Shilon, who lost him arm in a Hamas terrorist attack near the Gaza border in 2012, proposed to his girlfriend, Adi Sitbon, in front of over 1,000 FIDF supporters at the event held in Hollywood, Florida.
The event raised over $3.3 million for the well-being of IDF soldiers.
The theme of the evening was “Saluting the Women of the IDF," a sentiment echoed in Shilon's speech and proposal.
“We, the combat soldiers, are not the only ones who are doing a great job, but so are our wives, sisters, mothers and girlfriends who support us and give us the opportunity to serve Israel,” he said.
"I wanted to take this opportunity to ask my girlfriend, Adi, just one question. You are my hope, my rock, and my everything. I wanted to ask you, will you marry me?”
