IDF force enters village of Al-Fawar, south-west of Hebron in pursuit of Palestinian suspects who hurled Molotov cocktails.

One Palestinian was killed and a number of others were injured during a West Bank clash with IDF forces that saw soldiers open fire after being attacked, the army said on Tuesday evening.An IDF force entered the West Bank village of Fawar, southwest of Hebron, in pursuit of Palestinians suspected of hurling Molotov cocktails at Israeli vehicles in the South Mount Hebron area.A major riot erupted in the area, and soldiers came under a hail of rocks, the IDF Spokesman’s Office said.“During the disturbance, a part of the force found itself in a situation in which soldiers felt their lives to be in danger, and opened fire on the attackers,” the IDF added.Red Crescent paramedics evacuated the injured.Palestinians have identified Mahmoud al-Titi, 22, as the man killed during the clash, and have circulated his photograph on Twitter.According to Abir Kopty of the Popular Struggle Coordination Committee, Titi was a communications and journalism student. He was also among the founders of a Hebron youth movement in support of freeing Palestinian prisoners from Israeli jails. Titi’s funeral is Wednesday at 12:30 in Fawar.The army is investigating the incident.In an unrelated affair, two soldiers were lightly injured on Tuesday during an exercise at the Tze’elim base when a rifle barrel exploded.They were evacuated to Soroka University Medical Center in Beersheba for treatment.Tovah Lazaroff and Jerusalem Post staff contributed to this report.
