Gaza sniper fire shatters glass onto kid's car seat

A Gaza sniper on Monday night fired from the Gaza side of the border on Israeli cars near Yad Mordechai on the Israeli side of the border with Gaza south of Ashkelon, damaging a vehicle and a nearby restaurant.
A photograph provided by the IDF showed that the sniper bullets shattered the back windscreen of one of the cars, leaving broken glass on the car seat of a seven-month-old baby.
The IDF said 10 bullets were fired at the car in total.
Soldiers in the area returned fire in the direction of the shooter.
Most terror attacks take the shape of rockets, shells or attempting to cross the border, but occasionally snipers have fired on farmers without even actually crossing into Israel.
The IDF raised its level of alert for the Gaza border communities.
Security forces launched a search in the area before returning the level of alert to normal.
The IDF said that it would not hesitate to act with determination against any elements that use terrorism against the residents of Israel. The IDF said that it holds Hamas responsible for the attack.
On Facebook, the IDF posted that the attack shows Hamas' true colors and that the attack could have been even more tragic if it had occurred at a slightly different time when the baby was in its car seat.
Subsequent to the sniper fire attack, terrorists fired a Kassam rocket from Gaza into the Ashkelon Coast Regional Council area on Monday, Israel Radio reported.
There were no injuries reported, and no damage.
