A 26-year-old woman assaulted two teenage girls who were headed to a Hasidic Jewish event in Crown Heights on Thursday.According to police sources, the assailant, Shannon Polak, was stopped by a passerby who stepped in and was then also beaten by the woman.According to New York Daily News, Polak questioned the two girls, aged 14 and 15, on Kingston Ave. about the event to which they were headed, and when they answered, Polak asked them "if they really believed in that."It was then that Polak began pulling the girls' hair and choking them. A Hasidic man stepped in and took the brunt of the violence before the police were called. The arrest was made within minutes and the NYPD’s Hate Crimes Task Force has taken over the investigation.Polak has no prior arrests.
