Habayit Hayehudi leadership candidate Naftali Bennett’s website crashed Sunday
night after he was endorsed by national-Zionist leading Rabbi Shlomo
Aviner.
Bennett’s campaign said over 1,000 people joined Habayit Hayehudi
via his website after Aviner’s letter of support was publicized, most within the
first hour, leading the site to crash.
“If the site hadn’t broken down,
many more people would have joined the party,” Bennett’s campaign said. “We will
make sure to get to those who couldn’t sign up, and call for them to try
again.”
Aviner, who is a vocal supporter of National Union MKs Ya’acov
Katz and Uri Ariel’s Tekuma party, said on Sunday that it would be a “wasted
blessing” to vote for candidates other than Bennett.
The rabbi added that
Bennett, as well as Ayelet Shaked and former IDF chief Rabbi Avichai Rontzki,
can effectively make Habayit Hayehudi’s ideology a reality and help the party
grow.
