Famous Chinese Actor Tours Southern Israel with KKL-JNF
Liu Ye, a famous actor from China, and his wife Anais Martane, who was born in France, spent Sunday, February 9, touring KKL-JNF sites in southern Israel. Liu and Anais were in Israel along with six Chinese journalists as guests of the Ministry of Tourism, at the initiative of KKL Spain.
For Liu, whose remarkable acting skills have earned him international acclaim, this was his first visit to Israel. Liu and Anais have two children, a boy and a girl.
The day began with a tree planting ceremony emceed by KKL-JNF Chief of Protocol Andy Michelson at the Israel-China Friendship Forest near Lahav, north of Beersheba.
"Thank you for organizing this ceremony and for hosting us here," Liu said at the ceremony. "We drove here from the Dead Sea, and it was amazing to suddenly see forests, we can't believe it used to be a desert. My wife and I will plant a tree here today, whose roots will dig down deep into the earth, and for me, this means that a part of my heart will always remain here."
Before planting their tree, Liu and Anais read the Planter's Prayer in French and Chinese. Liu, who was visibly moved by the experience, say that planting a tree was hard work. "It makes me really appreciate what you've done here, planting over 240,000,000 trees."
