Heads of regional councils from the south participating at the meeting included: Alon Shuster, head of the Sha'ar Hangev regional council; Haim Yellin, head of the Eshkol regional council; Asher Avergil, head of the Shafir regional council; Tamir Eidan, head of the Sdot Hanegev regional council, and Shai Hajaj, head of the Mehavim regional council.

At the beginning of the meeting, the KKL-JNF World Chairman Efi Stenzler said to the heads of regional councils from the south: "KKL-JNF's work to strengthen southern Israel continues throughout the year, and we are here today to support you and hear about your most pressing needs. We will continue to stand by your side today, just as we did yesterday and just as we will do tomorrow. Southern Israel is always in our hearts and souls, certainly at times like these. Without the Negev and the south, Tel Aviv couldn't exist. We will help the residents of the south, because it is here that the new Zionism begins."

KKL-JNF Co-Chairman Eli Aflalo noted "the south always was a top priority, not just at times of crisis. Today, you are Israel's frontline, and we are here to support you."

Alon Shuster, head of the Sha'ar Hanegev regional council, thanked the KKL-JNF senior management and staff for their work during the year,  including paving security roads, planting security trees along towns, preparing infrastructures for communities and building water reservoirs and parks that serve all the region's residents.
