Every three years, the JDC organizes a meeting of all the Jewish communities and organizations of Latin America. This year, 700 heads of communities and organizations participated in the conference, which was held in Colombia.
The event took place under the auspices of KKL-JNF, which also set up a pavilion that displayed various promotional materials describing KKL-JNF activities. Hundreds of visitors to the KKL-JNF pavilion expressed a great deal of interest in the attractive materials and KKL-JNF's wide range of activities.
At the opening of the conference, KKL-JNF Co-Chairman Avraham Duvdevani presented Alvaro Uribe, the President of Colombia with a certificate of inscription in the KKL-JNF Golden Book. President of Colombia said to KKL-JNF Co-Chairman that KKL-JNF is "An Example for the Entire World".
Heads of communities and organizations, together with major donors, attended the conference at KKL-JNF's invitation, and were very moved to watch a video on KKL-JNF work at Halutziyot, which was built for Gush Katif evacuees.
During the conference, KKL-JNF Co-Chairman and KKL-JNF head emissary to Latin America, Michael Adari, met with heads of the Colombian community, the Chief Rabbi and main activists. As a result of these meetings, it was decided to reopen the KKL-JNF Bureau in Colombia, which was previously closed due to terrorism in the country.
