KKL-JNF World Chairman Efi Stenzler has asked representatives of the international community stationed in Israel to cooperate with KKL-JNF to benefit communities around the globe and to help transform the world into a better place in which to live.
Speaking at the Jerusalem Post Diplomatic Conference on Wednesday, December 12, Stenzler noted that KKL-JNF has transformed what celebrated author Mark Twain described in 1867 as a "loveless, desolate land" into a fertile oasis of flourishing agriculture with forests.
The Jerusalem Post Diplomatic Conference is a prestigious forum attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, with the participation of ambassadors, embassy spokespeople and military attachés from different countries.
The purpose of the conference is to hold a sensible discussion about Israel’s foreign policy and public relations.
The conference featured speeches by senior participants, including the Foreign Minister of Israel, Mr. Avigdor Lieberman; the Former Foreign Minister, Ms. Tzipi Livni; Former Commander of the Israel Air Force, Mr. Ido Nehushtan; and the United States ambassador to Israel, Mr. Dan Shapiro. The Conference was covered by dozens of media sources from Israel and abroad.
"Over the years, KKL-JNF has planted more than 240 million trees and has completely changed the Israeli landscape," Stenzler said, noting that "Israel is the only country in the world that entered the 21st century with more trees than it had at the beginning of the 20th century.
