Participants at the KKL-JNF World Leadership Conference experienced 4 very intensive days of lectures, workshops, outings and meetings. What did they learn, what did they especially enjoy, how do they sum up the experience, and what tools will they be taking back with them to their countries? In statements shared with the audience at the WLC 2013 conference summary, as well as a series of personal interviews afterwards, participants and conference committee members shared their impressions. A common thread that runs through them all is a meaningful shared experienced that focused on the Jewish people, the State of Israel, and humanity in general.
Avi Dickstein, Director of the KKL-JNF Resources, Development and Public Relations Division, at the final conference plenary on Tuesday June 18, officially summarized the discussions that had taken place.
Mr. Dickstein said that while the world around us is fast changing, the vision of KKL-JNF, that of Shapira and Herzl, remains the same: to develop the land of Israel together with the help of the Jewish community around the world. The first census in Israel, taken in June 1948, recorded less than 565,000 Jews. Today, Israel boasts some 7.5 million people, with 6 million Jews. Though the vision remains the same, the needs of Israel are changing, and today, issues of sustainability demand attention. Mr. Dickstein emphasized that he believed in the in the power of leadership; the power of the right goals and the right decisions; the power of people; people giving to people.
