“The tree I planted today in Jerusalem represents the good relations between our countries and our shared desire to build a better world together,” declared the President of the Togolese Republic during the ceremony at which he planted an olive tree in the Forest of Nations in Jerusalem.
“In Togolese tradition, if you have planted a tree it’s a sign you’ve led a meaningful life. Planting symbolizes growth, development and prosperity,” added President Faure Essozimna Gnassingbé.
KKL-JNF Vice-Chairman Gael Greenwald also referred to the friendship between the two nations, and added: “Planting an olive tree in Jerusalem symbolizes peace.”
