Regardless of Israel's current security situation, The Voices of America in Israel mission, comprised of public opinion leaders and US media professionals, toured throughout Israel and learned firsthand about life in a country where people try to maintain their routines even though a missile alert siren may be heard at any minute.
KKL-JNF hosted the members of the mission at several events—a visit to the Hula Lake, tree planting at the KKL-JNF tree planting center at the Kennedy Memorial in Jerusalem, and a meeting with KKL-JNF World Chairman Efi Stenzler.
One of the mission members, Katherine Archuleta, the National Political Director of the President Obama's reelection campaign, said, “I learned a lot about Israel on this visit, and I was impressed by the landscapes, the people and the ability of such a small country to become a cultural and political superpower.”

Regarding the security situation in Israel, she said, “I am sure President Obama has his own opinions about the situation in Israel, but I will certainly convey my impressions to him about the people who live here—the intensity, the culture and the commitment they have for their country.” Archuleta also said that she found the work of KKL-JNF very interesting, especially the bird watching observation point at the Hula Lake.
As public opinion shapers, the visit of the mission participants was very important in influencing Israel's image in the USA and in conveying the message about the importance of KKL-JNF’s projects for people and the environment.
